I know men can be really tricky to buy for, I never know what to get my boyfriend or my dad for Christmas, I’m lucky that I don’t have a brother, because Christmas is stressful enough catering for those two, so I thought I would come up with some ideas for you to make your Christmas shopping a little easier this year!
I’ll also try to choose gifts which are affordable, as this is something I definitely need to keep in mind when shopping as I am living on a student budget after all.
Idea No.1
AFTERSHAVE
I know people think that women are the only one’s bothered about smelling nice but come on, what man doesn’t want to smell nice?
I know my boyfriend loves to have a different aftershave and he puts it on every day without fail! This can be quite a pricy present to buy but there are some great deals out there, especially the box sets as you get added extras like shower gel for the same price.
The ‘Boss Bottled’ and ‘Boss Bottled Night’ are a great choice, they smell amazing and come in at a really good price! Especially considering that Boss Bottled is an Award winner for 2014, you can’t go wrong!
I also love Dolce & Gabbana ‘The One for Men’ – I think it is a beautiful scent, very sophisticated and elegant and definitely a good choice for the men in your life. I think it would be a great choice for the more mature man.
Idea No.2
MENS GROOMING KIT
I know men aren’t typically associated with beautifying like us girls are but I think in this day and age it has become acceptable for men to want to look nice and to make an effort with their appearance. I think these sets are a really nice idea for your boyfriend or perhaps your dad, who may need a little help with his appearance, sorry dads!
For the men that like to look good, I think this is a lovely gift idea, as it’s the sort of thing people don’t like spending too much money on, so it would be a real treat! After all, that’s what Christmas is about isn’t it? Treating your loved ones.
I think this Clarins set is a really nice option, it is perhaps a little pricey at £38, but Clarins is a high end brand with great quality skin care products! If you brought all the items separetly it would come to over £68 so that’s a great saving and not too daunting for a student budget. It includes a Moisture Balm, Exfoliating Cleanser, Smooth Shave Gel and an Eye Serum! It all comes in a wash bag so I think this is a lovely present!
A much cheaper version would be this one from Nivea, it is only £10 and includes Shower Gel, Deodorant, Face Wash and Post Shave Balm! Nivea is a very good drugstore brand and known for their skincare so you couldn’t go wrong buying this for your men!
Idea No.3
SOCKS
You can never go wrong with a nice pair of christmassy socks! I’m pretty sure I’ve brought my dad socks for Christmas every year that I can remember! I know it seems like a bit of a boring present but they’re the things that will actually get used, so you won’t be wasting your money! This is something which us students, or those with a tight budget need to bear in mind!
I love these Christmassy ones from M&S, they’re so cute and will be sure to keep their feet warm all winter long!
Idea No.4
SLIPPERS
Along the same line as socks but it’s always nice to have a new pair of slippers at Christmas! Although you only wear slippers around the house they always seem to be the pair of footwear which gets trashed the easiest and look a bit sad after the year is out! It would be nice to be able to make your man’s feet all snuggly again! I love these Monty the Penguin slippers from John Lewis, they are sooo cute!
Idea No.5
A BONSAI TREE
I think this such a great idea for a present, it is ‘manly’ plant, I don’t actually know if plants can be ‘manly’ but I’ll go with it! They’re the perfect gift as I’m sure your boyfriend, brother or dad hasn’t thought about getting one so it would be a surprise but they would make for a lovely decoration in their home. They can be really pricy but I found this one for a great price!
Idea No.6
SMARTPHONE PROJECTOR
For those that have everything, this smartphone projector is a great idea! This transforms your room into a mini cinema, courtesy of your smartphone! This is a great novelty gift and something that will definitely entertain your loved one all Christmas day and I’m sure they would be showing their mates what a cool present they were brought.
Idea No.7
SCRATCH-OFF MAP
This is something that I’ve thought was brilliant for such a long time! You can scratch off the places you’ve been around the world and they will change colour! My boyfriend brought his dad one for his birthday and he loved it so I definitely think yours will too!
There is a World map version and a UK version for the less adventurous and if you want to go all out there is a Deluxe version which is the nicest of all! They would also look really nice framed as a piece of art on the wall, and it would be something really personal!
Idea No.8
MEN’S COOKING MANUAL
Are you the one doing all the cooking? This cooking book would be a great idea, it is set out like a manual, something which would appeal to men and it is full of deliciously simple recipes which will get them cooking in no time!
Idea No.9
1001 BOOKS
These books can be a great toilet or coffee table read, they have a range of subjects and I’m sure you’ll find one to suit your male’s interests, they range from Inventions and Movies to Wines and Cars.
Idea No.10
WILLY CARE KIT
This is definitely a joke present but if your male loved ones like a joke gift then this could be the gift for them! You never know, it could be the thing they’ve always wanted?
I hope this has been really helpful and may have made Christmas shopping a little easier for those high maintenance males! Please let me know if you have any other great present ideas for men, I’m always looking for new ideas!
If you buy any of these, please let me know how they go down after Christmas! I look forward to hearing from you!
